Green Eyes
Love, I am your wrecking ball
So strong we crumble down, so strong we fall
Power, there’s no gauge here allowed
And aw it overtakes me to see such a thing peter out
And you’re gone to Arizona
I could not hold onto you with these hands
Time - worst week since I saw you
Since you saved me the trouble of asking you to stay
I want to see your green eyes tonight
In color beneath the moon’s black and white
Well I did build all that was torn down
I was a different man in a different town
Structure - foundation laid so well
Taken aback when it fell with no sleight of hand
I want to see your green eyes tonight
In color beneath the moon’s black and white
I'll drive 'til I’m at your door tonight
I want to see your green eyes tonight

Stonewall
California
I came to see ya
You took me out to eat
And laid me down to sleep
Been a stonewall
Been a stonewall
Been a stonewall
And I crumbled down
Heavy head has worn a thorny crown
I’ve risen up high
And crumbled down low
I once was magnificent
Gave it all up and never did go
She said "Just give it time
Just give it time
Just give it time
It will no doubt feel better but it takes time"
California
You didn't mean to break my heart
But it was just so hard
It was just so hard
I've gathered my pride and my prejudice
I took another shot and I slid another miss
In for you
I wouldn't say it's all or nothing now
I wrote the passwords and the countersigns both
I’m still in control
California
I came to see ya
You took me out to eat
And laid me down to sleep

Ends and Destinations
Just got back from a long vacation
It wasn't all I’d expected it to be
Thought being free would be a good high to have
But coming back home with nothing to do is not a way to be
I feel I’ve known you and I don’t want to screw that up
Flick of the switch moving you up the totem pole
And mixing metaphors and drinks down on the floor
Calling out your name every night at three
And you’re years apart
You blow them all away
You summarize ends and destinations
Spring rise, summer slow, and autumn cessation
And I catch myself following you with my eyes
Just as sure as I ride
And you just standing there
You blow
You blow
You blow them all away

Quarters and Dimes
When we lost the car keys
And had to walk home at 2 AM
The grocery store parking lot lights
Were still on
I stepped on all the cracks
You balanced on the lines
We danced in the underpass's damp cement
Interpreting graffiti as we went
You scuffed your shoe through
Green bottle glass
I had a pack of saltines in my back pocket
We stopped beneath streetlights searching
Old pay phones for quarters and dimes
You know I'm onto you
'Cause you know I’m onto you
Through all high crimes and tribulations
Through all trials and imperfections
I stepped on all the cracks
You balanced on the lines

Only Love
There was no one there to steer me clear of the darkness
On that day we met ten years ago
Though A to B may have been the roughest
There's no denying it's been a spotlit show
When we fell into Poughkeepsie there was a drive telling me
To hold onto you with all I got
Though working nights was tough there was always enough love
To bring me back to you
And your call signs shiver
Are you satisfied
With this go around
Running awry?
Running awry
It's only love
You're my only love
After school, we headed out west to play house among the pines
We would raise hell in their shade and sit quiet above tree line
Sometimes when you set your sights intertwined
It becomes easier to hear the rhyme
In this life
And though your call signs shiver
I can see you're satisfied
With this go around
Running awry
Running awry
It's only love
You're my only love
Dirt road on the drive away
Watching grass turn to hay
Sun flecks and shadows play
On Mason's Wall, summer day
Dirt road on the drive away
Watching grass turn to hay
Sun flecks and shadows play
On Mason's Wall, summer day
It's only love
You're my only love
It's only love
You're my only love

Colorado Love
On the mountain, your hair grows
Through the winter and deep snows
And it's reminiscent of
A storm unwoven
So undeserving of
Your Colorado love
Yes your Colorado love
In the glare of the fire our voices throw
That's when you decide to walk the way of your big toe
And it's reminiscent of
A storm unwoven
So undeserving of
Your Colorado love
Yes your Colorado love

In Our Bones
It underlies thoughts that linger
Lies misapplied in our tips of fingers
Here we are stopped at empire's end
Beyond what once we thought we could mend
And we wish to be fully grown
With no cowardice in our bones
It's on my mind now and everyday
Since our Alaska passed away
Hoping on a wishbone
You're just lying in bed
Gotta built it - build it of stone
Paint it cherry red
Now I got it I'm suffering alone
Stuck inside my head
Gotta build it - build it of stone
Paint it cherry red
It underlies thoughts that linger
Lies misapplied in our tips of fingers
No one says that time won't fold
Lying still growing old
It underlies thoughts that linger
Lies misapplied in our tips of fingers
No one says that time won't fold
Lying still growing old

Avalanche
If we walk far enough we'll come to the edge of the trees
The chill you feel is par for these low degrees
There's always a way out to the sides
They will see all that we cannot hide
And there's no one here but us
The winds howl and they gust
But there's no one here but us

Midnight Ride You Say
I hear them leaning in the hall
When did you eat the last time?
I think we'll make it if we don't run
Into the Po tonight
Let's get out of here - We'll go get forties
We'll hit the streets
Maybe we'll chance into a party
And stay the night
When you first set eyes on me years ago
There wasn't much talk of a line
Well seems there's always more time to go
I hope we keep living outside of design
We settle into the couch
While we listen to Scotty sing
After a while we get up to go
Out into the night
On the midnight ride you say
There's no one for you but me
Well I believe it when you cry
And with the first light of day
You whisper "There’s more in store"

Raggedy Ann
Well here I am
Staring straight at you
With nothing left to do
Stunned quiet by the implications
It's a glorious equation - you and I
I'm flying high on the indications
You could be sticking around awhile
I'm alone
When I can't fake it
I'm alone
When my last defenses fall
And I'm alone
And open to attack
Don't make me step back from you
Take me as I am
A crumbling man
I could be a real fixer-upper
You could be my Raggedy Ann
Take me as I am
Sometimes in the afternoon
When I haven't got my fix of you
Across the room I'll hear your voice
And know I don't have any choice
That's just the way it is
When I think about you leaving
It lays me low
It lays me low
I'm alone
When I can't fake it
I'm alone
When my last defenses fall
And I'm alone
And open to attack
Don't make me step back from you
Take me as I am
A crumbling man
I could be a real fixer-upper
You could be my Raggedy Ann
Take me as I am

I Sailed a Ship
I sailed a ship 'til it bit me
I rode a horse 'til I cried
And all these pictures they’re eating holes in my walls
Like a path laid bare at low tide then none at all
You can build with wood about you
You can write with words from in you
Love so deep feels like it will divide you
While tickets to ride pass like dead flowers before you
I could not deliver you
King’s cavalier in sorrow my grace has burned
And it’s a lesson too late to learn
Times not a quantity full to fool with
In the way the sunlight leaves us
Making us think we have reparations due us
Well I have stolen
I will steal
Yeah I have stolen
I will steal
Another year

Echoing
Me and Sophia
We go swimmin’ down by the rope-swing at night
Night air made us ice cream shiver
In the wadin' rushing river
And the night echoes all through the day
In the middle of her flight she calls out
That she don’t want me though I know she cares
Now I can hear her calling distance from Oxford Way
Now I can hear her calling distance from Oxford Way
And the night echoes 100 years of days
Me and Sofia
We go stepping on opposite coasts tonight
I feel the silly moon laughing
Because here and there my love is
We are echoing
We are echoing
We are echoing
I'd have been her favorite movie-watching seat
I'd have been her favorite dinner every night to eat
I'd have been missing puzzle piece to her perfect smile complete
